Guest Post | Five things NOT to do in the ZA!

I’ve learned a lot in writing the Contagium Series. I’ve tried out new weapons, researched survival skills, and spoke with doctors about a realistic zombie virus. But some of the most important things I’ve learned is what not to do in a zombie apocalypse. The characters in the Contagium Series are far from perfect. Luckily, I’ve learned from their mistakes.   Five things NOT to do in a ZA:

• Don’t take shelter from a tornado in a dark parking garage. Those places are creepy enough without zombies…
• Don’t go in the sewers. Zombies covered in sewage are worse than rats.
• Don’t count on burning zombies as a way to take them down. Zombies are soggy, decaying bodies. They don’t hold a flame too well.
• Don’t get over confident. You might be great at killing zombies, but it’s easy to get surrounded by a herd. Taking on too many most likely results in your death.
• Don’t forget your backup plan. Life rarely goes according to plan, and life in the middle of an apocalypse is even less likely to do so. Always have a plan, then a back up plan, and a back up plan for that back up plan. Preparation is the key to survival, after all.
